DANCE CAROUSEL @CB2020 - ‘Spin Off’ Performance Project

Multicultural Cumbria is in the exciting process of delivering a unique Dance project exclusively for women; an International carousel of dance classes consisting of five parts - each part a different dance style.

So far we have enjoyed:

Part 1: African with Joy Dale (Nigerian)

Part 2: Contemporary with Choreographer of Dance Ahead, Zoe Gadd (Cumbrian)

Part 3: Flamenco with Yolanda Marti Perez & daughter Carmen (Spanish)

Part 4: Latin Fusion (Salsa, Bachata, Merengue and Samba) with Jenny Rapti (Greek)

Part 5: Egyptian with Sally Abdalla (Egyptian)  *Still enjoying until 12th Feb!*

A one time opportunity to show off what these ladies, from a wide variety of cultural heritages have learned during this past year, by performing at MCC’s Culture Bazaar.  We are celebrating the success of the project by bringing the five dance tutors together to collaborate and weave all five styles into an all inclusive blended Dance performance!  This ‘Spin Off’ performance project is one time opportunity with an exclusive surprise appearance from our young ladies - watch this space!

Tina Borgia, Project Coordinator says “I’ve had the pleasure of watching womens’ confidence grow immensely, seeing new friendships form and I feel so privileged to have been part of such an authentic sharing of talent and culture.  There’s an ‘anything goes’ attitude in Dance Carousel, where inhibitions are left outside and the sisterhood bond is tangible. You can’t put a price on that.”
