If you would like to get involved please email [email protected]

Aims & Objective

To promote interaction within communities through:

  • Social events;
  • Celebrating world cultures;
  • Promoting integration;
  • Sharing cultural similarities/differences
  • Raising Cumbria’s profile as a welcoming area
  • Acting as a point of contact for BME communities
  • English classes for BME people (with child care)
  • Annual Culture Bazaar event – free community event – celebrating cultures through music, dance, food, sport and activities.
  • Exploring recreational and historical activities within Cumbria for BME communities for youth, women & children and families
  • Provide access to world cinema
  • To campaign for multicultural centres

Multicultural Cumbria has been set up to empower minority groups & the wider community. We aim to improve communication on grass roots level. Building confidence, self esteem, social opportunities and community cohesion.

Our aims are to support individuals & groups from BME communities to embrace their culture and share it with friends & neighbours.

We aim to seek out BME people that live & work in Cumbria to be actively involved, before we look for skills outside of the county
