My name is Siraaz Patel and I am a married father of 4 boisterous boys! I grew up in Lancashire and studied Social Work at University. I have been a Police Officer for over 17 years and I have predominantly worked in the South of the County. I’ve worked in various different uniformed roles which include urban and rural response and neighbourhood teams. I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant approximately 12 years ago and have worked as Custody officer and Patrol Sergeant. I am now operational lead for Positive Action Recruitment and work in the forces' Diversity Unit. I have a clear objective in this role, I need to ensure that the force is more reflective of the communities we serve. When I achieve this, we will see an increase in the number of BAME police officers within Cumbria Constabulary. I want to educate others about the benefits of a more diverse police force which includes diversity of thought.
