Professor Sally Elton-Chalcraft is Director Learning Education and Development research centre, University of Cumbria. She was a school teacher, working with 4 to 14 year olds for eleven years before working in three Universities as a Teacher Educator over the last two decades. 

Sally publishes in the areas of Religious Education, anti-racism, special educational needs, school leadership and education in India. She has been invited to give keynotes in India, Ireland and the UK. She is currently working on a collaborative  book about Extremism, a second edition of her Creative RE book, editing a fourth edition of a Professional Studies book for Student teachers, and researching including a project which explores the idea of The Communiversity (the university working with the community for mutual benefit). Throughout her career she has been passionate about exploring issues of social justice and making education accessible and thought provoking, leading to a fairer world.
